Rithet’s Bog is a 42-hectare wetland in central Broadmead. The nature area is the last remaining peat bog on the Saanich Peninsula and is now zoned as a nature sanctuary. The bog features walking trails and provides a place for wildlife and humans alike to rest and recharge.
Wooded Mount Doug Park is just a short trip by car or bicycle from Broadmead. This forested park is perfect for hiking or family picnics.
Nearby Cordova Bay boasts a sand and pebble beach that is great for exploring year-round, and is an especially popular spot for swimming and sunbathing on warm summer days.
Close by is one of the largest parks in Greater Victoria, Elk Lake and Beaver Lake. This network of swimming lakes provides opportunities for canoeing and kayaking, as well as fishing. The lakes are ringed by a ten-kilometer trail network popular with joggers, dog walkers and horseback riders.

The community of Broadmead lies within Saanich School District (SD 63). Despite its name, this district does not serve the entire Municipality of Saanich, but it does serve Broadmead.

Located right in Broadmead, Lochside Elementary is home to 450 students, and focuses on providing a collaborative environment using inquiry and project based learning.
Broadmead is served by the Royal Oak Middle School catchment. Located a short drive east of Broadmead, Royal Oak Middle School enrols about 550 students in grades 6, 7 and 8. The school has served the community for 150 years, and was completely rebuilt in 2006.
Claremont Secondary School is located on a hilltop above Broadmead. The high school is known for its Institute for Excellence, which is provided in collaboration with the nearby Pacific Institute for Sport (PISE), and a well-regarded fine arts program.
The neighbourhood’s central location at the base of the Saanich Peninsula means it’s an easy fifteen-minute drive by car to downtown Victoria southbound on Hwy 17 (the Pat Bay Highway). The airport and BC ferries are located just fifteen minutes to the north.
Many Broadmead residents commute to downtown by bicycle via the Lochside Regional Trail. Depending on your fitness level, traveling by bicycle into town can be just as fast as driving.
