Langford Information and Real Estate

West Coast Living

First Nations people first settled in the area that would become known as Langford. In 1851, the Hudson’s Bay Company established a farm in Langford, and more settlement was encouraged by a short-lived gold rush in nearby Goldstream.

Today, Langford is one of the fastest-growing cities in Canada, with a population of more than 36,000 people. The city has kept up with the population growth, and has encouraged a variety of residential construction, from condos and townhouses to single-detached homes. There are new parks, landscaping and a bustling, walkable town centre located on Goldstream Avenue.

State-of-the Art Recreation Facilities for Families

Langford is close to a variety of parks and some of the top recreational facilities on southern Vancouver Island, making it perfect for families or anyone who loves the outdoors,

City Centre Park

City Centre Park is the home of two state-of-the-art artificial turf fields. The first is Westhills Stadium, a 3000-seat stadium featuring 10 luxury boxes and a concession. Westhills Stadium is the home of Rugby Canada‘s Nations Program, as well as the Westshore Rebels of the CJFL.

Eagle Ridge Community Centre

Eagle Ridge Community Centre, built in 2005, is Vancouver Island’s only year-round dry-floor arena. It is used primarily for indoor soccer, ball hockey, lacrosse, inline hockey, and other sports. Measuring 190′ long by 85′ wide, this facility is also commonly used for trade shows, concerts, and other large functions. Eagle Ridge Centre is used by School District 62 during school hours at no cost, and provides the community with several free events annually.



Westhills Arena

Opened in 2011, Westhills Arena is a brand new state-of-the-art NHL-sized ice arena featuring an ice river leading to an outdoor skating pond in the winter season! The arena is ultra efficient and designed with a 100% heat-capture system for self-use and sharing amongst neighbouring homes. This facility is used by all ages, and is home to JDF Minor Hockey, who enroll more than 800 youths.

Westhills Y Aquatic Centre

A newly-built pool and aquatic centre features a lazy river, 2 water slides, a lane pool, a warm water therapy pool with variable depths, and a leisure pool with spray features and wave options.

Close to Beaches and Regional Parks

Langford Lake has been called one of BC’s “secret lakes”, and is the largest lake in Langford. The city is just a short cycle or drive from the miles of walking trails that network Thetis LakeGoldstream Provincial Park is also close by, while Witty’s Lagoon is a perfect place to go hiking, observe wildlife, or spend a day at the beach.

On top of that, residents of Langford know that a trip to the west coast of the Island is at least half-hour closer than when travelling from Victoria. And that’s an added bonus when travelling by car with children.


Langford is home to the only Costco on southern Vancouver Island. There is also a Walmart close by, and a variety of shopping at Westshore Town Centre.

Schools Serving Langford

Langford lies within Sooke School District (SD 62). There are two new high schools in the region (one in Langford, and one at the end of Veterans Memorial Parkway, in Colwood).

Belmont is Langford’s new high school and is located adjacent to Eagle Ridge Community Centre, Langford’s state-of-the-art (and large) sports centre. High school students enrolled in Belmont’s “hockey academy” program use nearby Eagle Ridge for practices and games.

Transportation in Langford

Langford is located about twenty minutes by car from downtown Victoria. The airport and BC Ferries are about a forty minute drive located to the northeast.

Some Langford residents commute to downtown by bicycle via the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. Depending on your fitness level, traveling by bicycle into town can be just as fast as driving.
